Fraud for law students?

Two students who were taking a holiday in Brazil have essentially been found that they were lying when they stated that they were robbed on a Brazilian bus. They have been arrested for insurance fraud as they were said to have claimed that over £1000 worth of their belongings had been taken away from them. However when officers searched the two girls hostel in Rio de Janeiro it was found that the items they had claimed to be missing were actually in their lockers all along.

They have stated that they were in fact robbed but had simply got what they were robbed from them wrong which can of course happen.

Although the morale of the story seems to be not to lie it does teach an important lesson and that is that you should always have insurance when you go away.

If in fact they had not been lying they would have successfully been able to get back their money for the items taking proving that laptop insurance and travel insurance does actually come in handy when you use it for the right reason

s rather than for personal gain. Whether or not they were telling the truth is unknown.
So at least this story will persuade more people to get out travel insurance as you now know for sure that it works. However they could have been telling the truth as having something taken away from you is a very traumatic experience and it is by no means easy to remember things well in a situation like this.

Of course if you are not looking to go away this year a look into your home insurance could be what you need. Some of these do not actually cover you from many things which is why you might need to be looking into home emergency insurance.

The real main thing to remember is that if you are going to claim on the laptop insurance do not lie cause it will be checked out!

Car rental is expensive

If you are planning on going on holiday this summer then stop and think about how you are going to get around once you are out there. If you are staying in an hotel or villa that is central to everything then it is safe to say you are only likely to need a taxi to and from the airport cause you certainly will not be wanting to walk those cases with you after a long flight.

For the majority of people this really is not an option and you are likely to actually rent a car, this is more important for places like the USA where driving is essential. But there is a major issue with this in 2009 and that is that British travellers could be hit with an excess fee as high as £1,600 when they are actually hiring their car.

It is known that most car rental prices do tend to include collision damage waiver which will cover you from accidental damage to the car as well as theft protection they do not often make it known that you will be liable for the excess in the same way you would be for your own car. Car rental companies will help you out on this but will charge you anything between £500 to £1600 just for this excess which is certainly enough to ruin the holiday for everyone if something bad does happen.

The excess is usually not explained to you until you actually collect your car which by this stage the car company will try to sell you their own form of insurance and this is certainly not cheap. This is going to cost you a lot and will in most cases not cover you against everything.

Sometimes it is best to actually fix this insurance before you go and can actually work out from as little as £2.98 a day. Gadget insurance can also be useful when going away as it will cover you from all those technological things you like to take with you.

Of course if you are not going away then why not check your home insurance policy. Pest invasion can be nasty, does it cover you from this? If it isn’t then you are going to need something known as home emergency insurance.
